I was looking to use the REPLACE functional attribute that was introduced in 6.1.6 and had a few questions. So I went into the trusty help looking for the usage, and WOW, things have changed! The initial help appears to be much more organized and logically laid out. For instance, I receive a full description of the functional attribute. Below that each element of the functional attribute is VERY well explained. No more having to hunt and peck through the help just to understand the different elements of the functional attribute\u2026very cool! But now for the best part \u2013 the examples. The examples actually push you off to the Intergraph Knowledge Base. Although the information appears to be a part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.intergraph.com\/default.asp?division=SGI\">Intergraph Knowledge Base<\/a> that I\u2019ve known about for a long time (and incidentally, that you need to login to access), the link in the help doesn\u2019t require you to login.<\/p>\n<p>When I clicked on the \u201cREPLACE Example\u201d link in the help, I was brought to a page with a whole host of examples. Here\u2019s a copy and paste from the EXAMPLES sections:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h5><b>Abstract<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>The following example shows how to use the REPLACE functional attribute.&#160; This applies to GeoMedia products version 6.1.6 and later. <\/p>\n<h5><b>Code Example<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>REPLACE(\u201cTHIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT\u201d, \u201c-\u201d, \u201c \u201d) equals THIS IS EXAMPLE TEXT<\/p>\n<p>REPLACE(\u201cTHIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT\u201d, \u201c-\u201d, \u201c \u201d, 6) equals THIS-IS EXAMPLE TEXT<\/p>\n<p>REPLACE(\u201cTHIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT\u201d, \u201c-\u201d, \u201c \u201d, 1, 2) equals THIS-IS EXAMPLE-TEXT<\/p>\n<p>REPLACE(\u201cTHIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT\u201d, \u201cI%-\u201d, \u201c \u201d, 1, 0, TRUE()) equals THIS IS EXAMPLE-TEXT<\/p>\n<p>REPLACE(\u201cTHIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT\u201d, \u201ci%-\u201d, \u201c \u201d, 1, 0, TRUE()) equals THIS-IS-EXAMPLE-TEXT<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Very cool!<\/p>\n<p>A couple of notes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Since the examples are written on a web page, it\u2019s likely you won\u2019t be able to just copy the example and paste it into the Functional Attributes dialog. You\u2019ll instead need to first paste it into Notepad or some other text editor and clean-up the example. So, if you find your example not working correctly in GeoMedia, make sure to clean it up first. <\/li>\n<li>When I logged into the Intergraph knowledge base directly (as opposed to accessing it through the help), initially I wasn\u2019t able to find the same knowledge base entry. If you\u2019re going to search the knowledge base directly, make sure to choose \u201c(All GeoMedia Products)\u201d under the \u201cProduct\u201d section. I chose \u201cGeoMedia and GeoMedia Professional\u201d and didn\u2019t get any records returned. As soon as I chose \u201c(All GeoMedia Products)\u201d, the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.intergraph.com\/KnowledgeBase\/kbresult.asp?ID=6705&amp;breadcrumb=&amp;industry=&amp;family_id=1&amp;kb_number=&amp;product_id=&amp;chkCode=on&amp;Rank=Default&amp;SearchString=Replace\">same knowledge base entry<\/a> I found in the help was also available in the Knowledge Base result set. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For a change of pace, I was working with GeoMedia Pro a little today.
